Azorean Gin Masterclass
The Azores may be a tiny archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, but that hasn’t stopped it from producing several excellent gins. Botanicals and ingredients grown on the islands are also used in several gins made in mainland Portugal. Baleia, meaning Whale in English, is one of the gins you will try and is created by your host and gin curator here at the Solar Branco Eco Estate, Ali Bullock.
Your tasting takes you through gins created or inspired by the Azores as you learn about the rich history of gin and its modern renaissance. You will try 3 gin and tonics with selected tonics and garnishes matched for each. Light snacks will also be served during the tasting.
This experience is held come rain or shine. When the weather is nice, the library doors are open, bringing the beautiful views of the green hills of São Miguel to the ocean beyond. For rainy days, we have comfortable seating inside.
Gin library: If the house has guests staying, the library may not be available, and we will host the tasting in another location on the estate
